"So they are no longer two but one flesh."

“Jesus said, have you not read that from the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,

For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?

So they are no longer two, but one flesh.  Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.”

Mt 19:4-6

Planning your marriage

A wedding is a day,

A marriage is a lifetime.

Perhaps you may have come to this page, to gather information and ideas as you plan for your wedding day.

Marriage is a lifetime vocation & commitment --- To START AND BUILD A FAMILY.

The Essence of Marriage

Married life is a tremendous

path to sanctity (Pope Francis)

  • God who created man out of love also calls him to love – the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being. For man is created in the image and likeness of God who is himself love. Since God created him man and woman, their mutual love becomes an image of the absolute and unfailing love with which God loves man.  (CCC 1604)

  • Marriage is the mutual giving of oneself to the other, perpetually and exclusively. It is a partnership of equal spouses, not based on equality but on complementarity with mutual dignity and respect, rooted in the love of God and love of each other. It is an intimate community of life and love established by the Creator and endowed by him with its own proper laws. (cf. CCC 1603)

  • The communion of love between God and his people is fulfilled in Christ. The union between man and wife is like the union of Christ with the Church, his bride. (cf. FC 13)Christ has raised the matrimonial covenant between baptised persons to the dignity of a sacrament.  (cf. CCC 1601)Christian marriage is an “icon of God’s love for us”. (Pope Francis in CNS, April 2, 2014)

  • By virtue of the covenant of married life, the man and woman “are no longer two but one flesh”. (Mt 19: 4-6) (FC 19)Conjugal love involves a totality, in which all the elements of theperson enter … It aims at a deeply personal unity, a unity that, beyond union in the flesh, leads to forming one heart and soul; it demands indissolubility and faithfulness in definite mutual giving; it is open to fertility. (CCC 1643)By its very nature … the intimate union of marriage, as a mutual giving of two persons, and the good of the children, demand total fidelity from the spouses and require an unbreakable union between them. (GS 48 & CCC 1646)

  • Conjugal communion constitutes the foundation on which is built the broader communion of the family, of parents and children,  of brothers and sisters with each other, of relatives and other members of the household. (FC 21)

The future of humanity passes by way of the family… (St. John Paul II)
